Wendover Parish Council Meeting April 2017

Council withdraws VALP response.

Wendover Parish Council has decided to withdraw its response to the draft Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan (VALP), in order to allow the recently launched Neighbourhood Plan to “lead on planning for Wendover.”

Submitted during the VALP consultation period last summer, the council’s response had included a suggestion that the old sewage works site off Aylesbury Road and land between the canal and Castle Park Road/Grenville Avenue, could be alternatives to AVDC’s proposal to remove green belt status from land off Tring Road to address what the VALP describes as a “shortage of land for housing around the strategic settlement of Wendover.”

However, following the Government’s recent Housing White Paper, AVDC is having to reconsider housing needs for the whole district and at the Parish Council meeting held on Tuesday 4 April, in an occasional venue – Chilterns MS Centre in Princess Mary Gate, councillors decided that due to the fact AVDC had rejected the two alternative sites, coupled with the recently announced closure of RAF Halton and the launch of Wendover Neighbourhood Plan, the VALP response had been ‘overtaken by events’ and should be withdrawn.

Housing and green spaces will form two of the subjects for ongoing consultation and consideration as part of the Wendover Neighbourhood Plan process. (See also www.wendoverneighbourhoodplan.co.uk)
