Wendover Youth Centre, January 2019
As 2018 has come to an end, we just wanted to reflect a few of last term’s highlights and give you a little taster into what is ahead for us at Wendover Youth Centre.
Worry and anxiety can be a very real and at times debilitating struggle for all of us, and teenagers are not exempt from this. So last term we worked very closely with the John Colet School, providing assemblies for key stage 3 around ‘worrying’ and also delivering PSHE Lessons to all year seven students on this topic, with a lesson we wrote called ‘Blue Sky Thinking’. These have been very well received by staff and students.
We have also been working with Aylesbury Youth Action on our WAY (Wendover Area Youth) Board project. After finishing their research video on Wendover back in December 2017, our young people have been looking at the recommendations for Wendover, and following up on discussions regarding the skate park. Our young people have visited the skate park, created a survey which has received over 100 responses, met with the parish and deputy clerks and are now putting the finishing touches on their film about this project to share with the Local Area Forum and Parish Council.
