Youth Homelessness in Aylesbury Vale
This week we hosted a virtual event to share our findings on youth homelessness in Aylesbury Vale.
Compared to the national average, Aylesbury Vale has 22% more young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our report reveals the facts and statistics about youth homelessness and includes recommendations for our Nightstop Aylesbury service which provides emergency overnight accommodation for 17-25 years olds who face spending a night in an unsafe place.
BBC South Today will cover the story this evening on 6 and 9pm news. Listen out for our CEO, Hannah, talking on Greatest Hits Radio and Radio 5 Live, and read about it in the Bucks Herald. All this media coverage is for one reason: to help us recruit more Nightstop volunteers.
You can also find more information, including the full report, on our website.
Could you help keep Aylesbury Vale’s 17-25 year olds safe at night?
Nightstop hosts open their homes to young people facing a night in an unsafe place.
Nightstop Aylesbury relies on kind volunteers with a spare bedroom they are willing to offer to a guest for anything from 1- 28 nights. Not only does the volunteer host provide the guest with a safe place to stay, a hot meal and the opportunity to wash, they also provide a listening ear to make the guest feel comfortable and secure. We are looking for new Nightstop volunteers.
We are looking for new Nightstop volunteers so that we can continue to offer this vital service in Aylesbury Vale. If you feel you could be a host or a driver, you can find out more here.

“When I was 19 I was in a really bad place. I was struggling with my mental health, had fallen out with my family, and had to move out of home. Then I lost my job and my rented accommodation. I slept outside for a night then stayed on friends’ sofas until they got tired of me in their living rooms. I stayed with a wonderful Nightstop host. Now I have another job, and somewhere good to live. I owe so much to Youth Concern and Nightstop Aylesbury.”
– Maja, Nightstop guest
On behalf of the young people like Maja who will sleep safely thanks to your donation, thank you very much indeed.
