Blue Diamond to Acquire Dobbies Garden Centre in Aylesbury
Following an opportunity, Blue Diamond is pleased to announce the upcoming acquisition of Dobbies Garden Centre in Aylesbury, formerly known as World’s End. The acquisition is set to take place on March 10th. During this transition, the centre will temporarily close for a full refurbishment, designed to enhance the customer shopping experience. The transformation will create an aspirational retail and dining destination, with an anticipated phased reopening in early May, starting with plants and gardening. All current staff will be retained, securing their future within Blue Diamond, while also creating additional job opportunities.
Throughout the refurbishment period, key concessions will continue to trade, including Walter Smith Fine Food, World’s Finest Fruits, Clips Dog Grooming, Lindengate Charity, Maidenhead Aquatics. Pets Corner will close during the refurbishment period.
Alan Roper, Managing Director of Blue Diamond, commented: “In the past World’s End has been an extremely busy independent garden centre, since then sales have dropped by half. Blue Diamond is committed to restore World’s End to its former glory as a must-visit garden centre destination.”
With this acquisition, Blue Diamond continues to strengthen its position as the UK’s largest garden centre group, bringing its total number of centres to 50. This marks the third site acquired from Dobbies, following successful transitions at Harlestone Heath and Huntingdon, which are set to open in March and April.
