Rocky Lane, Wendover

We have been constructing the permanent realignment of Rocky Lane and underbridge to allow the HS2 route to pass over the road. Following the re-opening of Rocky Lane in August 2025, we will reinstate the plant crossing across Rocky Lane to allow site vehicles to pass through safely for delivery of materials, connecting our internal road network. We expect the plant crossing to be in operation until December 2026.

Leather Lane road closure, Great Missenden

Leather Lane will be closed to all traffic for a period of up to 14 months starting from 9:30am on Monday 1 September 2025 to November 2026.
Traffic will be diverted via Potter Row, Frith Hill, and Aylesbury Road in both directions (A413) during the road closure.

Leather Lane will be closed so we can remove the current road and construct the new green bridge over the railway trace. The overbridge design allows us to save much vegetation, preserve the natural landscape and protect local wildlife, as well as screening views of the railway from the newly aligned road.
It is not possible to construct the new green bridge whilst retaining the current access to Leather Lane. The road will be realigned as part of our works.

More information can be found in the advanced work notification here:

Footpath Closures in the North Chilterns Area

As part of continuing works and for the safety of the public, there will be closures of some footpaths adjacent to work sites in the North Chilterns area. This includes the areas located in Ellesborough, Nash Lee, Wendover and The Lee.

Public Right of Way (PRoW) closures are in place to allow us to safely use the internal haul road and to continue to build the HS2 line itself. PRoWs which are located close to or that cross the construction sites, will remain closed with diversions where possible.

There are several points where you can cross over the HS2 railway, which can be seen on the maps in the link below. These include crossings on Nash Lee Road, Ellesborough Road, and Bowood Lane.

HS2 Works Notification: Abnormal load deliveries to North Portal site, Great Missenden

We are bringing plant and materials onto site that will be used to build GMI/2 and GMI/12 overbridges, and for our works in Leather Lane in South Heath, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. The equipment is large and will be brought to site on wide vehicles, some with police escort.

Through discussions between hauliers, local authorities, and police, it has been agreed that the route chosen is the safest and least impactful route available.

On various dates from mid-February 2025 to summer 2027 at 11pm, the abnormal load vehicles will take the following route:

  • Exit the M25 at junction 16 to join the M40
  • Exit the M40 at junction 2 to join the A355 heading north
  • Exit the A355 at the A413 junction heading west
  • Travel along the A413 to the North Portal site entrance at Link Road, Great Missenden.
