Wycombe Wanderers Fans Top the Table in Collections League
The Chairboys’ supporters helped to raise over £1,800 for the Chilterns MS Centre during a day of raising awareness and funds for the local multiple sclerosis (MS) charity.
The partnership between the Chilterns MS Centre and Wycombe Wanderers football club has gone from strength to strength this season, culminating in the record-breaking collection day on Saturday 21 April. Generous fans, colleagues and members of the club dug deep to raise over £1000 in bucket collections alone. These donations will greatly help with the Centre’s ongoing work with people with (MS).
On top of the cash collected on the day, local accountants Haines Watts generously donated towards the Centre to use an executive box at the match. Gary Heywood, Managing Director, said “Haines Watts were delighted to be given the opportunity to support the Chilterns MS Centre which provides superb and truly inspirational care in the local community. Their work with our friends at Wycombe Wanderers brought the charity to our attention, and we are very pleased that Haines Watts were able to give their support to a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of the local community”.
“We are thrilled that the day was such a success. There was a great atmosphere before the match and everyone at Wycombe Wanderers has been so supportive this year. The Chairboys’ fans were exceptionally generous and we are so grateful that we could use the day to raise awareness of the Centre and the work that we do. We also met people with MS at the match who didn’t know we existed. Because of our attendance, they now know they have somewhere local that they can turn to for support and treatment when they need it. This is why we foster this type of partnership with local businesses and groups.” Sharon Cooper, Chilterns MS Centre.
In total over £1,800 was raised and will go towards supporting people living with MS, and their families, in the Bucks area, some of whom are Chairboys’ supporters. Treatments and support available at the Centre include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counselling, social groups and oxygen therapy.
